Spoiler Alert: I don’t know much about crypto. In fact one of the reasons I agreed to write this blog is to take this journey with you. Basically, I did the research from the position of a crypto newbie so you don’t have to.
Bitcoin, Solana, Dogecoin, Ethereum: all these terms are common knowledge and have something to do with cryto, however it seems impossible to figure out how they are all different. The world of crypto is daunting, it’s new, it’s untested and incredibly volatile. Most of all, it’s unorganized and incredibly difficult to find the right resources to learn about the space and all the different coins.
Below are my favorite resources I found and felt were the easiest to read yet also informative (and yes I am gen Z and used Tik Tok to look for resources).
Crypto Cannon isn’t as much a resource but rather a bank of resources. The reason I like this so much is because it is organized by knowledge level. The most relevant section for myself and other crypto newbies is the foundation and building blocks section.
It also accommodates all types of learners, if you like to read you can click on an article or guide like “Crypto Glossary: Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain” by Alex Pruden and Sonal Chokshi, but if you are more of an audio visual learner you can click on “Ever wonder how bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) actually work?” by 3blue1brown which will redirect you to a youtube video.
If you are serious about learning crypto and aren’t afraid to delve into the details and put in the work, this is definitely the resource for you
I almost didn’t include this one because the interface is not the best. However, the resource it provides is fantastic for anyone one trying to understand the industry.
Crypto Panic is a news aggregator that collects all the recent current events about crypto in one place. In the last hour alone, the source has collected over 15 articles, tweets, and guides. It essentially acts as a twitter list but for news articles.
Another reason I loved this resource is because it is a great way to find experts and influencers in the crypto industry. Everyone wants to get into crypto for different reasons, some just want to keep up with the trends while others are looking for a quick profit. At the end of the day, everyone needs to do their own research and this source makes it easy to figure out which news sources or twitter personalities YOU value the most.
This resource is a very simple and easy to use website. It is directly targeted at people like us. It opens up with a quick video explaining crypto currency and focuses mainly on Bitcoin. Bitcoin was the catalyst for cryptocurrency becoming relevant and is a great case study to use when trying to learn crypto.
The website has more than just a page explaining coins, it also has guides on how to set up a crypto wallet and where to go to buy coins. It helps with many of the technical aspects of getting into crypto and even gives advice on how to keep your crypto wallets secure.
For people that are impatient and refuse to wait to buy their first coins (which is unlikely, because why would you be reading this) then this site is a great guide on how to get started.
This is my favorite resource on this blog. It is a website (with a good interface) that has guides for newbies, reviews of specific coins, and the price of different coins. The whole mission of the site is to simplify cryptocurrency to make it easier to understand.
I started by going to the learn tab and reading the “Learn About Crypto: Comprehensive Guides and FAQ” and then did some clicking on the suggested articles there. Afterwards I just scrolled through the website and clicked on some of the other guides they had published on the site, such as “How to Set Up a Cryptocurrency Exchange Account” by Arthur Crowson.
There is tons of information on this website, and information for every kind of crypto newbie, however this resource would also be insanely useful for advanced crypto traders as it includes both a news section and reviews on all the best wallets and coins.
This is a hub to find basic information on the different tokens including prices and where to buy the coin. This website is for people who have already done the base research and are finally ready to get into buying crypto.
For me, one of the most confusing parts about crypto is that not every coin can be bought at the same place. Some coins have their own websites and it seems as if you have to jump through flaming hoops to give these sites your money. It is extremely helpful to have a place where it directly tells you how and where to buy a coin that you may be interested in.
- Crypto is new and constantly evolving. Nobody is an expert or has any clue what the industry will look like in a year. It is fascinating but take it with a grain of salt that the best resources currently include Twitter and Tik Tok
- Similarly to the last point, do your own research. Choose your own favorite resources and influencers, but make sure to have more than one source.
- The more work you are willing to do the better investor you will become. Although some of the sources such as Crypto Cannon can be dense, it is VERY important to gather as much knowledge as possible so you can decrease your chances of losing money.
Crypto could be the first step into the next age of technology. It is fascinating, forward thinking, and incredibly cool. The more we learn and experience it the more likely it will succeed and further our society will go.
